A little mini-biography... would that be like a micro-biography? That would be appropriate since I'm a clinical microbiologist and work for Minnesota's State Health Department. I've been in the field of health care my entire adult life in one form or another, including being a card-carrying Registered Nurse. This journey has been accompanied by my husband, Dale, (married in 1973) and unencumbered by two-legged children. My four-legged children, both the tame ones indoors and the wild ones outside, help to center me in my Universe.

Our four-legged children are two cat siblings, born as ferals in the spring of 1994 under the neighbor's porch, named Katie, a calico, and Bubba, a long-hair white cat with a black tail and black ears (Turkish Van markings, for those of you familiar with the pattern). My spiritual philosophy is that, four-legged or two-legged, we are all members of the same family. To be honest here, I often tend towards thinking that the four-legged creatures have more integrity and worth than some of the two-legged ones who have crossed my path.

And speaking of all being members of the same family, I must tell you here: my politics are liberal, my spiritual leanings decidedly "unwestern", and my Kinsey number roughly a 3.

My writings in this journal are an attempt to understand and come to terms with my dysfunctional "family of origin" issues, my constantly evolving spirituality, and my efforts to connect with those who may appreciate the twists and turns of this life's journey.
